If you are using wordpress.com to host your website, you may need to change the settings on your site to allow users without WordPress.com accounts to login to your website:
On your wordpress.com security settings:
https://wordpress.com/settings/security/{your-domain}
Disable Allow sign in using WordPress.com accounts.
Having this enabled will redirect users to login at wordpress.com instead of your website.
Note: You may need to create a new Administrator account with your email and a new password to access the Dashboard of your site. With Allow sign in using WordPress.com accounts disabled, you will not be able to login with your WordPress.com account.
Disable Prevent brute force login attacks.
Our Sign In form does not currently support this feature, resulting in the Sign In redirecting to a 401 page.
If you would like to keep the Prevent brute force login attacks setting enabled for better security, you will need to change your Sign In button to link as well as any other login links to {your-domain}/wp-login.php instead of /account.
